This slightly rugged Veracruz Amethyst has an abundance of trigonic sunken downward facing record keepers on one face, and a couple on another face. There is some etching on three sides. Internally are rich purple hues, and some inclusions lower down creating rainbow flashes. The quartz has good clarity, with some cloud at the base.

Veracruz Amethyst is from a mountainous area near Las Vegas, in Veracruz state, Mexico. It is considered to be one of the finest amethyst in the world. It is mined as a family business, using hand tools, and wheelbarrows. The side of the mountain has several openings going into short horizontal tunnels., where they collect the amethyst. All the Veracruz amethyst in my collection has come directly from the miner.
