The Dioptase on this page is from the copper deposits of Democratic Republic of Congo. It is an hydrous copper silicate with an hexagonal (trigonal) crystal system. Dioptase is a secondary copper mineral and forms in prismatic crystals in emerald green to bluish green. It grows in association with chrysocolla and other copper minerals. Its name is derived from the Greek 'dia' meaning 'through' and 'optasia' meaning 'vision'. Each piece is unique with its own characteristics and features. chrysocolla is ideal for therapists, healers, and all crystal lovers and collectors.
