This stunning Shangaan smokey amethyst sceptre is an explosion of colour. It is full of red hematite threads and dots everywhere you look. There are rainbow displays at every turn. The quartz is a fairly recent find and is unique to this area. It is gathered with simple hand tools.  Chiredzi / Shangaan quartz has unusual elestial / skeletal growth features and can often be found as sceptres, which display a second growth over the top of the initial growth. Many of them are double terminated and several contain hematite and lepidocrosite inclusions, as dots and threads. There are often holes or indents penetrating the quartz and some display a fenster type growth with several layerings. Phantoms and colour zoning are common features.
