This rare purple labradorite from Madagascar has been skilfully polished in the local lapidary on one side to expose the stunning chatoyancy of colours. It has the elegant presence of a butterfly! The light reflects off and through the layers of the labradorite to create beautiful vibrant shades of deep purples and pinks, blue and golden yellow. A small movement of the stone will reveal a different display. Labradorite is a type of plagioclase feldspar that grows in complex aggregate layers. It is a sodium calcium aluminium silicate and has a triclinic lattice system. A stunning specimen to add to a collection. In the healing world Labradorite is considered to be the ultimate stone of magic and protection.
