This raw and natural grey moonstone is from Madagascar. The grey mingles with clear and milky white, and the moonstone offers up the occasional rainbow flash.  The stone has many layers within, glassy depth in places, and interesting tactile surface textures. The moonstone has a fairly neat boxy shape.
Moonstone is a member of the orthoclase feldspar group , and is a sodium potassium aluminium silicate. It has a monoclinic lattice system and a hardness of 6 - 6.5. 
As the moonstone forms and cools the orthoclase and albite separate into alternating layers. As light falls between the layers it scatters and produces a pearly adularescence. 
Moonstone is the Goddess stone of mystery, self discovery, reflection, intuition and insight. It is associated with the moon, tides and cycles, and teaches us about the natural rhythms of life. It is believed to be the bringer of good luck.
