This very special smokey amethyst wand tapers beautifully, with a muzzo formation, similar to the Lemurian Quartz. The termination has developed a second generation growth forming a sceptre habit. The wand has deep purple saturation within the top half, with at least one rich purple phantom. This is partnered with some  dark golden smokey hues. The lower half is  very subtle light amethyst, almost clear Quartz in parts, and there is some chlorite present below the surface on one side, and some light iron/hematite coating on one side. At the base is at least one portal into the Quartz. Internally, there are several floaty gas inclusions, which are quite dense in the lower half. The wand has good  clarity. There is a very slight nick on the tip but this does not detract from the overall beauty of this unique specimen.

Chiredzi / shangaan smokey amethyst is surface mined by the indigenous Shangaan people of southeast Zimbabwe. The quartz is a fairly recent find and is unique to this area. It is gathered with simple hand tools. Chiredzi / Shangaan quartz has unusual elestial / skeletal growth features and can often be found as sceptres, which display a second growth over the top of the initial growth. Many of them are double terminated and several contain hematite inclusions, as dots and threads. There are often holes or indents penetrating the quartz and some display a fenster type growth with several layerings. Phantoms and colour zoning are common features.
